Durpin

FEATURES

Ready right away

No waiting to develop: shots are in the Darkroom as soon as they upload, shared rolls are a live album, and Instants open as soon as they're sent.

Since build 11

Since build 11 nothing in Durpin waits on a clock. A shot is in your Darkroom as soon as it uploads, a shared roll is a live album, and an Instant opens as soon as it's sent. The reveal stays: every shot comes back face down, and you turn it over to decide what happens to it.

Your shots

Take a shot and the Darkroom canister, bottom left on the Camera, glows red with a count, usually a second or two later. Open it: the shot is a face-down frame on today's contact sheet (see The Darkroom). Tap it, or Turn over, and share it with friends, keep it private, or toss it. Shots you don't decide on become private after 7 days.

While a shot is still uploading, its frame shows a spinner, or the offline mark with no signal; it arrives within about 15 seconds of the signal coming back (see Never lose a shot).

Friends still see only what you share from your own roll. The server enforces it: nobody but you can open one you haven't shared. (On a shared roll everyone on it sees each shot; that's what it's for.)

Before build 11 each shot developed 5 to 20 minutes after you took it, and a notification said when shots were ready. That notification is gone, since there's nothing to wait for.

Shared rolls

A shared roll is a live album. Everyone on it sees each shot as it comes in, newest first. The roll says "OPEN" and until when it takes shots: a day from when it started, or until whoever started it ends it. While it's open, the album looks for new shots every 20 seconds.

When it's done, everyone on it gets a note: "The roll is done. See everyone's shots." Whoever ended it doesn't get one, and a roll nobody shot on sends none. Starting a roll no longer asks when it develops.

On the Home tab, the strip at the top has a pill for each roll that's open or ended in the last day, with how many shots it has.

Instants

An Instant opens as soon as it's sent, and your friend gets the notification then. It's still for one friend, seen once, then gone. Since build 13 it can be a clip too, up to 8 seconds, that plays with its sound until it's closed. Since build 16 the link your friend's phone opens it with lasts 15 minutes and isn't saved, and the photo or clip is sent asking phones not to keep a copy.

Since build 16 the Instant camera is the camera tab's camera:

"For" and the friend's name sit where the counter is. Close is top left, and the flash moves to the top right. Your friend sees the photo at 3:4 and the clip at 9:16, as you framed them. Instants sent before build 16 were square, and they still show square.
